About

theAsylum Project was started round about 2002, and has been a side project that I keep coming back to since then. For the largest span of its life it has served as the un-updated main page of the domain that I use to host a number of off-shoot projects and pages for friends. In general though, this page has served as a portfolio of my web work and a focal point of the small business I did around that work.

Now, I am not a web designer/programmer by trade, it is just a hobby of mine that I occasionally make a small profit from, hence the long periods in the past where I was not actively working on this page. Recently I've decided to change the focus of this page to one with, well basically, not a major focus. I'll still showcase my past web & print creations, but this page will also be a repository of my writings and anything else that I feel like putting into it. Going into it with a single minded focus never worked for me in the past, but if I treat this page a a fun project for me to put whatever I feel is valuable that I have to offer online, than I think it will keep me more actively engaged in the site.

All that being said, now for a little bit about the current iteration of the site. This version, launched in April 2010, is built using WordPress a fantastic PHP back end that I have used on a number of projects, but never any for my personal use. I'll be changing the theme up from time to time, and probably going for a custom made one sooner or later, but we launched using Lightword Theme by Andrei Luca. The title logo was made using Adobe Creative Suite 3. This site is best viewed using Mozilla Firefox and its the only browser I recommend.
